i guess i am incapable of taking any sort of hiatus!
i had to tell you about this:

my friend jane wynn’s book! jane lives right here in baltimore and i am convinced we have a superwoman among us! jane balances a full time job with making jewelry, painting, and prints, maintaining a blog, teaching workshops AND authoring books!! hello!!

ever since i reached legal working age, i have always held a retail job at one store or the other. i really do believe that retail has played a HUGE role in shaping me. and while i don’t agree with many corporate retail practices, i did walk away with so much knowledge.

retail has taught me so much- when and how to be a team player, when and how to be a leader, to think business-mindedly, creatively, and to always seek solutions. i never imagined that the experiences i had as a wee one working in retail stores could bring me to this point where i am today- i am only a few days shy of leaving my cubicle job to pursue a career as a full time shop owner and artist.

i suppose i am having all of these sentimental thoughts right now because i just saw the post in decor8 about the urban outfitters headquarters. you must see the slideshow that holly put together of their beautiful space. i feel inspired just looking at the images, i cannot imagine what it must be like to work there.

i’ve never been the kind of girl to use a coaster, but who can resist when these are available?

happy cinco de mayo to me! FINALLY! it’s HERE!!! i just received a brand spanking new gocco pg-5 in the mail straight from japan. needless to say, i have been sketching up a storm this morning. the kit only came with two master screens and four bulbs, so i am feeling a little hesitant to print anything until i come up with the “perfect” illustration. - will i EVER print anything!? i need to order many additional screens, bulbs and inks PRONTO because, as most of you know, this amazing little machine has been discontinued! please join the fight to save gocco! this petition is also a treasure trove of blog links- so happy cinco de mayo to you too!
