let's see.  i've never been one to be a stickler to the rules so i say- just do your best!  i've thought about material restrictions and i'm not too sure.  for instance, i think i want to make earrings, and if i do, i would want to use precious metal for the earring wires, so that they can be wearable.  my rules are this- use as many grocery store/pantry items as you can, but don't be too hard on yourself :)
