i love to treat myself to new books.   two of my newest reads:

i enjoyed unaccustomed earth so much that i picked up another book by jhumpa lahiri, interpreter of maladies.  can’t wait to crack this one open.  have you read either of these?  i’d love to hear what you think.  i am especially fond of lahiri’s representation of the young adult lives of first generation americans- so honest and relatable.

in other news, i’ve decided to run the baltimore half marathon in october! i’m using this book, marathoning for mortals as my coach.  my official training started yesterday and am i EVER sore today. what a great feeling! the last race i ran was a 5k back in 2006, so i know this half marathon will be quite a mental and athletic challenge for me.  i’ve found that i have a hard time staying fit/excercising if i do not give myself an end goal.  in this case it will be to complete the race!

i also picked up this fun book titled running made easy (to negate the seriousness of “marathoning for mortals”).  it is full of fun motivational tips  for the running woman.

I read Marathoning for Mortals before I trained for my first half. It’s great. Nothing felt better than crossing that finish line and knowing I DID it. Now I’m training for my first full marathon (which I always thought was crazy). Have fun training and best of luck to you! I’m also a fan of your jewelry!

I read Interpreter for Maladies - its a collection of short stories, some of which are better than others! Overall, it was waaay better than “Namesake” (though I liked the Namesake movie…), so you made the right choice :). Looking forward to hearing what you think - and looking forward to seeing you on Friday hopefully!

BRAVO! I am beyond thrilled for you.
I have been dreaming about running for a while now. But sadly- I just have too much going on at the moment- but I think I see an opening to start in September! Mwahhh!

I look forward to progress reports!

hi!! thank you so much for your encouragement! i feel so elated just to complete my training sessions- i’m sure i’ll be completely overwhelmed when i cross that finish line in october. some of the success stories in both “marathoning for mortals” and “running made easy” make me cry from happiness too!

hi divya! i had no idea there was a namesake movie! namesake is next on my list after i finish interpreter of maladies. can’t wait to see you friday! i’m working extra hard to finish prepping for saturdays’ show by friday afternoon.
