not the blues

i’m feeling the creative blahs. i have a pretty difficult time working through these moments-i often wallow about in doubt and bewilderment whenever i approach this little bump. sometimes, i let the creative blahs slowly seep their way into other aspects of my life. after having an icky morning, i pulled myself out of the slump by acknowledging that creative ups and downs are completely normal and to be expected! instead of pouting about all day (which i can do pretty darn well), i went ahead and put the creative energies (or lack thereof?) to rest and set about to enjoy my day and i think it’s working! what do you do with your blahs?
things that lifted my spirits today:
iced coffee!
running errands- going to the store for dishwashing detergent and tp! there is a great sense of satisfaction in completing little tasks like this, don’t you think? mopping the house and sweeping the porch may be next on the agenda!
supportive friends!- thanks for inviting me to craft out with you!, juliet and katie who told me to simply GET OUTSIDE on this gorgeous day!
a new (to me) blog- makeunder my life, jess, the author, writes about designing a life of intention.

I’m glad you like the blog! Check out the Giveaway Giveaway at the top and send me any “exfoliation” photos you have :).
-Jess!
thanks jess!! i exfoliated a dress last friday - strange stains when it came out of the wash- i thought i could hide it with a sweater. i saved it for years without attempting the sweater trick!
Annie-
I know exactly how you feel- I’m going through the same thing! this feeling tends to happen after a disappointing show, so I’ve been trying to come out of my slump by trying new designs and also diverting my attention with the beautiful sunshine and window shopping! going to my favorite boutiques and galleries also helps me recharge!
take care-
Amy
Annie,
I’ve had a huge case of the blahs this past week. It’s hard to get yourself out of the funk, but when you do - man is it a world of difference.
I agree, the simplest of errands can help clear your head. I like doing the mundane household or grocery shopping because it lets me do a little retail therapy, while not being a complete waste of money. So what if I throw one or two small items into my cart I don’t NEED. The rest of my cart is full of necessities and I leave feeling accomplished.
I also tend to de-clutter / clean when I’m feeling down. If anything else, shove all the clutter into a closet, make yourself THINK that your space (and life) is uncluttered for a while.
Working outside is always a great remedy, but unless it’s and evening or weekend, I don’t typically have that luxury!
