if you are an avid knitter or crocheter in maryland, you probably know all about the maryland sheep and wool festival which takes place every first weekend of may.
i’ve never been before and am not sure if i will make it out this year, but how i wish i could go! not only does the lineup include 250 vendors and 1,000 sheep, but i’m seeing that events range from sheep parade and sheep photo contest to junior spinning contest.

Now Accepting
AltCraft Artist Applications
for the American Craft Council Show
in San Francisco
|
|
August 15-17, 2008
|
| “I am excited to see the American Craft Council reaching out to our creative community and providing us with an affordable opportunity to participate in their established craft show. I see this as a positive step, opening the dialogue between generations and a chance to expose a new audience to our way of thinking.” - Faythe Levine, Director and Co-Author of Handmade Nation |
| Due to the success of the AltCraft (formerly New Wave) section in Baltimore, the American Craft Council is now accepting applications for the San Francisco show at Fort Mason Center, August 15-17, 2008. Ten makers will be juried into this bustling section, which celebrates the populist, experimental and youthful vitality of the renewed handmade movement. Artists who have never exhibited at an American Craft show may apply.
Located on the San Francisco waterfront between Fisherman’s Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge, this show serves a well-established audience of Bay Area craft enthusiasts, including a growing demographic of younger craft admirers. The average booth is valued at $1,000 but as part of the Council’s commitment to indie crafters, the cost of participation is just $300, which includes a 10-ft table in a shared loft space. Plus, there’s no application fee!
The deadline is May 23. Please submit:
- (3) low-resolution images of your work
- A brief description of your work (materials, dimensions, techniques)
- Your contact information (mailing and email addresses)
Send submissions and inquiries to Erika at ebrown@craftcouncil.org.
The subject line should be: San Fran AltCraft Application
Finalists will be announced in June.

back in march, i mentioned that we are “adding some new moves” to our repertoire. . . i’m happy to reveal that for the first time ever imogene will be participating in two wholesale shows in august 2008! these shows are attended by buyers from shops, boutiques, galleries and the like. hopefully, this means that soon you will be able to see imogene jewelry in person at a store near you!
i’m so excited to take this big step and will keep you up to date on all the progress as i prepare for these shows. i especially can’t wait to show you plans for my new booth design.
i’m going to vegas, baby!
