one of my favorite holidays, valentine’s day, is coming right up! it’s true- i’m a sucker for february 14. i’ll be participating in two valentine’s day shows this year. i hope you will be able to stop by and say hello in d.c. unfortunately, i won’t be present in st. louis, but it looks like it will be a fun fun show!
1. crafts and kisses (d.c.)
2. indie valentine (st. louis, i’ll be sending my jewelry to the st. louis craft mafia).
also, some v-day jewelry will be available in my etsy shop today.

a quick note: the french lessons #2 earrings will be available soon. i wasn’t happy with the result of the english “kisses” hoop, so i’ll be working on that again this week.
the first half of “french lessons earrings #2″

available in my etsy shop soon. maybe? i’m not so sure i can let this one go . . .

a new series coming soon! a little preview of a pair of earrings:

one of my favorite past times is collecting vintage beads: glass beads, plastic beads, cabochons, cameos, intaglios, enameled charms- you name it. if it’s old and it’s got some personality, i’ll take it! i noticed that my little collection is getting a little . . . out of control, sooooo i am embarking on a new adventure in 2008. i am pleased to introduce to you my second etsy shop- VintageBeadBoutique where i will be able to share these wonderful finds with you! you have probably noticed that i don’t use very many beads in my work. i really just love the thrill of the hunt, the way that the beads feel in my hands, the fact that each little guy has a history and a future, and of course i adore organizing and reorganizing them. (see in flagrante collecto (caught in the act of collecting)) i hope you enjoy these little treasures as much as i do!
you might wonder how i prepare for a show? it seems that this is my course of action every time: plan, plan, plan, organize, organize, and then veer WAY off course. example: i spent my day making these one of a kind earrings from a stash of square silver wire and a little bit of sterling sheet for the words. this certainly was not part of craft show plan, but it did feel SO good to complete these. go with your creative compulsions, right? right.
p.s. can you tell i’ve still got paris on the brain?

a custom necklace that i recently finished- the molecular structure of serotonin

five years ago, we adopted joey (the face of imogene and my number one muse) from the maryland spca. starting on october 9, the spca is holding shop-a-paw-looza, a benefit auction for the spca dogs and cats. last year’s auction raised over $47,000!
in honor of joey and his pit bull brothers and sisters, a VERY misunderstood breed, i have created a limited edition necklace (12)- the first of which will be available for auction at shop-a-paw-looza on october 9.
